Getting Involved International

If you would like to invite a team to lead a mission in your country, there are teams from the UK and from around the world that could help.

Typically, a team of ten or so will come, lead a training evening for all the participating team members (it is good to aim for 200 local team members) and then be with you for the mission.

There needs to be a place to have the meal – ideally (if it is in the open air), a place where a lot of people pass and can see it happening.

There needs to be a group of churches that will work together.

It is for the local churches to organise the food – often for between 500 and 1,000 people per day, depending on how busy the area is.

We believe that God has said that it is important that your churches together pay for the food – it must be their gift to their people!

Meanwhile, visiting teams will not be a burden to you financially.  They will pay their own travel and accommodation costs and come to serve you at their own expense!

All kinds of food have been served., in Kenya it was also rice (“Pilau” rice, flavoured with spices and vegetables, along with barbecued meat).  In Mexico it was Tacos.  In the majority of countries it is a barbecue.  This has the advantage of needing no advance preparation (it is cooked by the team during the mission, as our guests come).  In Russia it was Pizza!mexico

Worship is key.  It is the worship that ushers in the sense of the presence of God.  The mission is completely flat without true worship, from the heart.  A big choir is great (this often does not need any instruments or amplification), or a smaller worship group with guitars or other instruments and a PA system.

The key thing is to get in contact with us and then we can talk about the mission and the situation in your country – and think about which part of the international On the Move ‘family’ might be in the best position to help you.

Although doing a free barbecue and having worship groups and inviters is essentially a simple thing, we do recommend that you get people who have done it before – who carry the vision in their hearts and have themselves received an impartation – to come and share it with you.  This vision is very relational.  To see it as “a tool for evangelism” is to misunderstand it.  It is primarily a move of the Spirit and it needs to be received first!

In the first instance, please email Martin Graham at martin@onthemoveinternational.org, or Telephone +44 121 427 3300.  We are very approachable and love to talk!  If you email, please explain something of your circumstances and give a telephone number we can reach you on.  If you phone, please bear in mind that we travel a lot of the time – but, if we aren’t there, please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
